Các quan chức y tế Hoa Kỳ và toàn cầu đang gióng lên hồi chuông cảnh báo về việc ngày càng có nhiều ca viêm gan nặng bí ẩn xảy ra ở trẻ em .

Đầu tháng này, các nhà nghiên cứu ở Hoa Kỳ và Châu Âu thông báo họ đang điều tra các cụm nhỏ của các trường hợp nổi lên trên toàn cầu. Ngay sau đó, Trung tâm Kiểm soát và Phòng ngừa Dịch bệnh Hoa Kỳ đã đưa ra cảnh báo tới các bác sĩ và nhà cung cấp dịch vụ để đề phòng các trường hợp bất thường.

Theo các quan chức của Tổ chức Y tế Thế giới, trên toàn cầu có khoảng 170 trường hợp đã được xác định, với nhiều trẻ em dưới 10 tuổi.

“Điều đặc biệt bất thường là phần lớn những đứa trẻ này trước đây đều khỏe mạnh”, Tiến sĩ Philippa Easterbrook, chuyên gia y tế của Chương trình Bệnh viêm gan và STI HIV Toàn cầu của WHO, cho biết trong cuộc họp báo hôm thứ Năm.
